This skirt cloth has a woven dark brown ground in the mainfield with a red border. The design consists of rows of triangular patterns as well as large and small lozenges in yellow, green and red. 'Mudmee' woven textiles originate from the northeastern part of Thailand. 'Mud' means to tie or bind while 'mee' refers to silk strands. It is the Thai version of 'ikat' or the tie and dye technique used to create patterns. The designs range from abstract designs to Buddhist motifs.
