Born in Singapore, Chia Hearn Chek (b. 1931) is known primarily as a prominent author of children’s literature in Singapore. However, he is also an active participant of the local art scene and a member of the Modern Art Society since 1999. Chia has always been attracted to the mysterious land of Tibet and in 1987 he made his first and only trip there. Rendered in an angular manner, Chia highlights the fort-like structure of the majestic Potala Palace, the seat of the Tibetan government until 1959.
