These hair clips were among the many tools used by Mdm W.Y. Low, who worked as a hairdressing apprentice then hairdresser in Singapore from around 1946 to the early 1980s. The 11 hair clips, consist of 1 ‘Goody Yoyette Wave Clip’ and 10 ‘Hard & Strong Wave Clip’. Despite the name inscribed on these clips, they are closer to the type known as alligator hair clips, which comprise two long parts joined by a hinge. The two shorter parts of the clip could be pressed together to open the clip and were widely used to hold part of someone’s hair in place.
