Philip Adolphe Klier (1845-1911) was a German photographer known for his images of Burma. Having introduced the carte-de-visite format to Rangoon, Klier also operated studios in Moulmein and Rangoon, forming a partnership with Rangoon-based photographer J. Jackson from 1885-1890. Klier’s studios sold images and postcards of Burma’s views. Known for his studio portraits, Klier also documented Burma’s architecture, natural landscapes, commercial life and local people.
