This is the script for a speech given by Mr Cheng Choon Eng of the Queen's Crescent Citizens' Consultative Committee at a 1969 National Day event. Mr Cheng served as a Queenstown CCC member (and later vice chair) from 1968 – 1991, among a number of other grassroots roles, for which he was awarded the Public Service Medal (PBM) in 1983 and the Public Service Star (BBM) in 1991.
