The pullover combines hand-braiding technique and tassel decorations hand-assembled by an Italian specialist. A skirt in matching cream colour is richly embellished with soutache braiding and pearls. The ensemble comes from Andrew Gn’s Autumn/Winter 2016 collection in which he referenced fine embellishments in Russian royalty’s styles and couture techniques from the Edwardian period. Knitwear is a rare feature in the designer’s fashion career although his signature surface detailing is likewise evident here. Andrew Gn is one of Singapore’s most prolific fashion designers in history, achieving high levels of critical acclaim and industry success. He is the only Singaporean to be a constant feature of Paris Fashion Week since 1995. His creations are known for their elegant, feminine, maximalist aesthetics and are finely crafted, cross-cultural, and reflective of innovation in tradition in fashion. This work is part of his major gift back to Singapore.
