Sin Chew Weekly(星洲周刊) was published by Sin Chew Jit Poh (星洲日报), which was founded by Aw Boon Haw. Sin Chew Jit Poh was one of the leading Chinese dailies in Singapore and the newspaper served as an advertising channel for Aw’s Chinese medicinal products, one of which was the famous Tiger Balm medicinal balm. The magazine was a literary supplement to the newspaper and promoted modern Chinese literature in Singapore. Sin Chew Weekly published a wide-range of content including topics like science, mythology, culture, and customs.The magazine’s could be said to have been witness to the historical development of Singaporean’s entertainment and literature culture.
