This lamp features a backplate that has been formed as a ewer with a fish-form handle. It is engraved with blessings over the Hanukah candles, the traditional liturgical song "Ha-nerot halalu". The inscriptions are supplemented by the verse “For the commandment is a lamp, the teaching is a light” (Prov. 6:23) and the entirety of Psalm 30 which are also recited on Hanukah.”Hanukah, Hanukkah or Chanukah is an eight-day festival beginning on Kislev 25 (corresponding to December in the Gregorian calendar) that is principally known as the Festival of Illumination or Lights in the Talmud.
