This brown teapot with blue-and white patterned roundels is a cross-cultural product of the 18th century. Dutch gilded bronze mounts were added to the Chinese porcelain bowl, which was made for export to either the Netherlands or the Eurasian market in Batavia (now Jakarta). The playful mounts include a sprout in the shape of a bird’s head; a lion on the handle, and a figure holding a cup on the cover.
