This ear plug is embellished with granulation and a diamond in the centre. It is possible that they were worn on ceremonial occasions and festivities. Such ear ornaments required large ear lobes and in Java, their popularity declined in the 19th century. Lampung, situated at the southernmost region of Sumatra, is inhibited by three groups: the Abung, Pubian and the Paminggir.
