Hot pot

This hot pot is decorated with painted polychrome enamels on a white ground. Painted flowers, including peonies, morning glory, and camellias, decorate the body. Each side is painted with a different Chinese landscape scene. This colour palette was especially popular during the reigns of the Qianlong (1736–95) emperor. Painted enamel copper wares in the form of a hot pot is extremely rare. The tradition of using hot pot can be traced back over two thousand years in Chinese culinary traditions and it still continues today.
