7-UP is non caffeinated lemon-lime flavoured soft drink first created by Charles Leiper Grigg in St Louis who calld it Bib-Label Lithiated Lemon-Lime Sodas. It began to be called 7Up in 1936. The original recipe is said to have contained lithium citrate known to improve the mood, which was then removed from the drink in 1948. The company which changed several hands is now with Dr Pepper Snapple Group. This Seven-Up company adopted this appearance in 1969 where the word 7-UP is put vertically up the body of the glass . The white lettering against the red square box with rounded corners was probably used from 1972-1980 when the stylized depiction of bubbles were dropped. The words up also now appear in lower case.
