This bed cover is embroidered in the centre and along the side with a female figure in European-style clothing and a bonnet. Flowers border the top and bottom edge of the cover. The bottom panel includes an embroidered flower basket with tassel. Sequins are used to decorate the border of the cover. During festive occasions like weddings, Peranakans used various, elaborate, decorative textiles and objects for ceremonies and presentation. Early pieces of silk and metal-thread embroidery show more Chinese or Malay influences, by the 20th century, European-inspired beadwork and motifs became popular.
