This hand-drawn, batik (wax-resist) handkerchief is decorated with geometric patterns and floral motifs border the edges. It is usually worn affixed to the top kerosang piece of the baju panjang and flipped over the right or left shoulder. Peranakans use a variety of clothing which reflect their hybrid styles and identities. Peranakan dress reflecting strong Southeast Asian influence includes the baju panjang, batik (wax-resist method) sarong, kebaya and batik handkerchiefs.
