The photograph shows two Indo Eurasian woman (probably a mother and daughter) posing with a piano in the background. The younger woman wears a fashionable kebaya of the late 19th century.With continuous improvement of camera technology, it became possible to take photographs outside a studio in the first decades of the 20th century. Many middle-class families collected photographs in albums as a way of documenting family life, or documentasi keluarga.
