This tubeskirt or tapis worn on ceremonial occasions, is an example of embroidered decoration exemplified by the Abung people of Lampung. Noblewomen, in particular, dedicated efforts to embellish un-patterned textiles with gold thread, beads, shells or sequins which would sparkle against the deeper textile colours. This example incorporates the eight-point star and cruciform motifs, combined with the vines and flower buds denoting the border.
