Senikir is a blanket made by combining two panels of warp ikat cloths together, worn by men of the noble class in Kisar. Key male officials bestowed with an adat title, are clothed in a senikir cloth to indicate his high social status. Men wore the senikir as a waist wrapper or a shoulder cloth. This particular Senikir textile is decorated with patterns created using red, brown and blue ikat threads: the narrow bands in the centerfield of the textile consist of linear stripes and key patterns, whereas the finials are decorated with elaborate and asymmetrical geometric patterns such as the eight-pointed star and double tumpal motifs.
