Such design—white weft stripes against an indigo field, and diamond patterning—is similar to dress blankets (can-lo puan) from the Haka area in the Northern Chin State, Burma. This type of blanket is traditionally worn by people of high status, such as women of the chief’s family. It is also used to wrap the head of a sacrificial buffalo or a buffalo foetus during some feasts.
