This carved wooden figure is most likely an image of Wilmana, a winged beast that is the vehicle or wahana of the demon king Rahwana in the Balinese version of the Ramayana epic. It was made as the carved wooden base or plinth of a support post for a roofed structure. The hole for the pillar is in the back of the figure.
