P&O Cruises first introduced passenger services in 1844. The forerunner of modern cruise holidays, these voyages were the first of their kind, and have led to P&O Cruises being recognised as the world's oldest cruise line. In 1932, a new ‘tourist class’ was created to appeal to a generation of cash-conscious passengers, and also a growing number of cruisers, which coincided with the introduction of a new class of ‘white’ liners built for the Australian mail service. This poster advertises the services of such a cruise, which would have stopped at Singapore as one of its ports of call. This poster also appeared as a P&O print advertisement in the Blue Peter magazine in July 1932.
