Wedding Headdress with en Tremble Diamante Settings

This headdress of metal (probably silver alloy) set en tremble with dozens of faceted diamantes, is from Singapore (c. 1900 - 1950). It would have been worn by a bride as part of a traditional Malay wedding costume. The modern headdress is probably modelled on the traditional mahkota or regalia crowns of the consorts of the Malay Peninsula, which would have been fashioned from solid or gilded silver or gold, and studded with precious and semi-precious stones.
