Passementerie like these was used to finish nyonya needlework pieces by covering seam lines. The label on 2 of the rolls comprises of an image of a man turned to his side and the name of the firm ‘Jackson & Co Ltd Singapore’. The remaining label is inscribed with the following: ‘Chin Ho & Company’, ‘hand global’, ‘trademark’, ‘Singapore & Kuala Lumpur’, ‘Del. N. 23000’, ‘Col. N. 1’, ’10 YDS’ and ‘Made in Europe’. These trimmings have clusters of flowers embroidered along its scalloped edges.Examples in this group demonstrate the variety of colours, thread and bead types available to embroiderers in Penang and Singapore.
