This folio of 19 prints is a historically significant body of work relating to Indonesia’s Declaration of Independence in 1945. Commissioned by the Indonesia Bureau of Youth Affairs to celebrate the first anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, Baharoedin was informed that the government was interested in producing some propaganda materials. Consisting of 10 prints by Baharoedin and 9 prints by Apin, the works depict various images associated with the nation’s struggle towards Independence. 36 of these folios were then printed and distributed to various countries who had recognized Indonesia’s independence during that period.
