The cheongsam is made of lurex material, which has silver thread woven into the fabric. Lurex was a popular choice of fabric for clothing in the 1960s. The shiny effect created by the metallic fibre made the fabric suitable for evening wear dresses. The cheongsam has a Hong Kong-based tailor label, “Tailor Chu” (朱锦培服装) and another label that reads “中石绸锻公司”.
