The Tang Shipwreck was acquired through the generous donation of the Estate of Khoo Teck Puat.

This chain and hook for a hanging scale from the Tang shipwreck may have come from Sumatra or Java. It was probably used by members of the crew to trade and barter for goods and provisions at the various ports of call the ship would have stopped at. The Tang Shipwreck is a 9th century vessel that was en route from China back to the Middle East when it sank off the coast of Belitung Island in the Java Sea.
