This is a plain kebaya without lacework. It was made during the second world war and during this period, lace was not imported into the Dutch East Indies. The kebaya is a loose open jacket worn by Peranakan women of the Straits Settlements, Indonesia and Indo-European women of the late 19th to 20th century.
