A pair of embroidered slippers

This pair of slippers features butterfly and dragon motifs, considered as traditional Chinese motifs. The motifs are embroidered using gold thread.This pair of slippers is part of the material culture of the Peranakan community in Myanmar. Many of them are believed to have come to Myanmar from Penang. As is the case with their regional counterparts, beaded and embroidered slippers were used by the women as an accessory to their traditional Sarong Kebaya outfit.
