This skirthcloth features a floral and insect centrefield motif and ‘tumpal’ (triangular) motif at the two ends. It is an example of a batik piece from Jambi whereby the colour schemes are mostly indigo blue as well as red. They are also well known for a certain golden yellow shade, said to resemble from a distance, the effect of ‘perada’ gilding that has become a defining characteristic of some Jambi cloths. The generally conservative colour schemes and designs relate closely to both Indian trade textile designs from the 17th and 18th century as well as Javanese influences from the 19th century.
