The White Book

Born in 1973 in Singapore, John Clang moved to New York, USA in 1999 to pursue a career in conceptual photography. Clang, who has been participating in regional and international exhibitions since 1993, held his first solo exhibition in New York in 2001 and was featured in the Emerging Artist Series by Kodak and PDN. He was also the photographic director of ‘Werk’, an experimental magazine which provides a platform for budding talents. Clang’s photographic oeuvre consists of everyday images from his surroundings, and examines the relationship between human presence and the architectural landscape. ‘The White Book’ is a photo installation consisting of a booth and a book of photographs from three series: Silhouette/Urban Intervention (Black Tape), Time, and an earlier series of ‘White Book’. The booth creates an intimate and private space for the viewer to examine the work.
