This straight–walled circular box with curved cover is dated to the Yuan dynasty (1279– 1368). The thread relief decoration on this piece have been impressed onto a range of other vessels such as bowls, jarlets, ewers, small teapots, and kendis (container for liquids). These objects have been found in large quantities in Southeast Asia, especially in the Philippines.Dehua, located on the southeast coast of Fujian province, is well known for its production of white porcelain, known to Europeans as 'blanc de Chine'. The earliest Dehua porcelain was produced as early as the 14th century but the production and quality of these porcelain peaked around the 17th and 18th centuries.
