This black velvet dress has an exaggerated silhouette and thick shoulder pads which allude to the power dressing of the 1980s. As more women began to enter previously male dominated professions, they adopted a new way of dressing to earn respect and authority at the office. The highlight of this dress is the enormous wired collar embellished with huge diamonds reminiscent of the collar made popular by the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley. The dress has a slight V-shaped hemline and is worn with a patent belt.
