Designed by the architects Swan and Maclaren, the renowned Raffles Hotel was established in 1887 by the Sarkies brothers. The Palm Court opened its doors to the public in 1894 and was popular among the British. The Palm Court was a tropical garden that was located in the middle of the hotel grounds as depicted in this postcard.
