This sacred textile is known as a ‘usap’ and came from the Sasak community in Lombok. It features rows of geometric motifs in red and white. Such cloths are similar to the tampan cloths of Lampung in South Sumatra, which were also used during transition rites such as circumcision, weddings and funerals. These textiles are still being woven by the Sasak people.
