This pair of unsewn child or women’s slipper faces uses the technique of bead embroidery on a cotton canvas. This is usually done with the support from a ‘pidangan’ (embroidery frame). Petit point beadwork is used here in which the needle worker uses coloured beads to stitch out the decorative motifs. Colour lined glass beads imported from Europe are used to create the main decorative motif of what is possibly a horse or cow as well as the geometrical patterns in the background.
