BP de Silva's business acumen and diversity as a designer ensured that he was always attuned to his clients' needs. He travelled abroad regularly to identify the changing preferences in jewellery design and personally supervised the Sinhalese goldsmiths he brought in to work at his High Street shop. These floral pieces, most probably of Indian workmanship, were favoured by the Peranakan Chinese who made up a significant group of clients that appreciated de Silva's personal touch and exquisite workmanship.
