In the 1950s and 1960s, film exhibitors competed to attract audience by importing the latest equipment and innovations, such as 3-D films and widescreen projection.This film projector, fitted with a CinemaScope lens to screen films in panoramic format, was made by GB-Kalee Ltd, then a prominent manufacturer of cinema equipment in the UK. The projector saw Hollywood Theatre at Tanjong Katong Road through its heyday in the 1960s. The cinema screened mainly Chinese films and hosted appearances by Cantonese film stars such as Fung Bo Bo and Josephine Siao.
