Designed by Swan & MacLaren and completed in 1924, Sultan Mosque remains a focal point for Muslim worshippers in Singapore. The first Sultan Mosque was built in around 1824. It was situated in the Kampong Glam area, which was allocated by Sir Stamford Raffles for Sultan Hussein Shah. The tomb of Sultan Hussein Shah's grandson, Sultan Ali, is found within the grounds of the mosque.
