Mosque praying chart

This wooden prayer timetable-cum-clock consists of six miniature clock faces on the upper half, arranged three in a row. The clocks have their hands pointed to six important prayer times in a day for Muslims, that is, "subuh" (dawn), "syuruk" (end of dawn prayer, i.e. when the sun rises), "zuhur"(mid-day), "asar" (late afternoon), "maghrib" (dusk) and "isyak" (evening). The lower half of the piece consists of a chalkboard where prayer times are written in Jawi and numerals in chalk. The prayer schedule indicates the times for the five daily prayers as well as the time for daybreak.This piece comes from the Wak Sumang mosque in Punggol, Singapore, which has since been demolished.
