‘Kueh baulu’ is a Malay/Peranakan Chinese round egg-based flour cake. The lid of the mould is designed to contain hot charcoal on top while the mould itself is heated on a clay oven. The mould is carved with floral and animal motifs of decorative and auspicious significance.
