This is a White Hmong's embroidered jacket. Typically made of black cotton, this type is made of black velvet with cuffs of bright patterned blue. For special occasions, the jackets are embroidered with an appliquéd strip in front. Rectangular embroidered collars with appliqué designs are also stictched at the back.The Hmong were originally highlanders from southern China, who migrated into Northern Thailand from Laos and Vietnam during the 18th and 19th centuries. They consist of two main groups - the Hmong Deaw (White Hmong) and the 'Mong Njua' (Blue Hmong).
