This skirt shows how imported Indian printed cotton fabrics into Southeast Asia were used for local ceremonial clothing. The piece of printed imitation patolu has been bordered with locally embroidered cotton ikat and made into a tubular skirt. The printed pattern imitates a popular silk double ikat (patolu) pattern.
