This head ornament in the form of a comb, is decorated with floral and foliage motifs. In Palembang, unmarried girls wore gilded combs which are embellished with ornaments in silver or gold that quaver at the slightest motion. It has been suggested that the head ornaments of Sumatra are one of the most elaborate in Southeast Asia. In Lampung, south Sumatra, bridal crowns turn up at the two sides to resemble buffalo horns.
