This postcard shows the temple's Pagoda of Rama VI, or the Pagoda of a Million Buddhas, whose hybrid design contains a Chinese octagonal base, with its middle tiers dominated by Thai architecture. The largest Chinese temple in Malaysia, Ji Le Si was founded in 1904 by Miao Lian, a Chinese immigrant who had arrived in Penang from Fujian in 1844. Various deities are worshipped in this temple, which attracts both pilgrims and tourists alike.
