This ribbed cup, glazed a light apple-green has a contrasting brown wash around the foot rim and a white glaze on the interior, perhaps to enhance the colour of the tea or wine when poured inside. Glazed wares such this copper green cup appear to be an early export type in Vietnamese ceramics. They reflect a desire to emulate Chinese wares in an attempt to capture a share of the export market for high-fired glazed ceramics.
