Toa Payoh Methodist Church began as an evangelical outreach project by the Wesley Methodist Church and St Andrew's Cathedral in 1968. The outreach project started as a free medical clinic at Block 109 Lorong 1. A year later, the first religious service was celebrated at the clinic. The congregation then began construction of a purpose-built church in 1971, and the Toa Payoh Methodist Church was completed in 1973.
