V Krishna, a member of the local caulker community, recalls meeting with dignitaries and celebrities passing through Singapore as a young man. Like many of his contemporaries he maintained an autograph book as a recordof such meetings. In this autograph book is the signature of Vijayalakshmi Pandit during her visit to Singapore in 1 954 when she was President of the United Nations General Assembly.
