This large and elaborate cloth was probably meant to be used as a decorative hanging or canopy. It is inscribed with a Sufi poem written in Urdu using Nastaliq script. The poem speaks of the poet’s longing for his beloved, entreating the help of God as well as Hassan and Hussein – grandsons of Prophet Muhammad and highly revered figures in Shia Islam – in obtaining her affection.
