View of the sunset in Singapore

This is a coloured postcard showing a view of sunset in early 20th century Singapore. Picture postcards gained popularity in the period between 1906 and 1913, which was termed “The Golden Era of Picture Postcards” by many authors. The picture postcard was first produced in Singapore in 1897 by G.R. Lambert & Co. Lambert was a Dutch photographer who had opened a studio at Battery Road in 1867. Other famous publishers of picture postcards were Ribeiro & Co. and Koh & Co.
