On 9 August 1965, Singapore left the Federation of Malaysia and became an independent nation-state. Since then, Singapore has conducted grand and impressive Parades and performances annually to celebrate its National Day. The People's Association Singapore Girls Pipers made their debut at the National Day Parade held at the Padang in 1967.
