This badge with the characters, 井冈山, (jing gang shan) is symbolic of Mao Ze Dong's leadership and his vision to unite the oppressed masses to fight against the ruling class. Jing Gang Shan refers to the birthplace of the Chinese Red Army and is often called "the cradle of the Chinese Revolution."It is named after the mountain where Mao Zedong led a group of peasants and staged an uprising, called the Autumn Harvest Uprising in Hunan province on September 8, 1927.Mao established the first Red revolutionary base in these mountains.
